Dr. Kebreab Ghebremichael is Visiting Assistant Professor in the USF Patel College of Global Sustainability, and Director of the Water Sustainability Concentration. From 2012-2016 he also served as Director of USF’s Office of Sustainability. His research focuses on biological filtration for water treatment, wastewater treatment and reuse for onsite systems, integrated urban water management (IUWM) and low-cost adsorbents. He worked in consultancy projects for the World Bank in the development of IUWM strategies for cities in Africa. He was one of the founding members of the KTH-Direct – A Center of Excellence for Disaster Management. Prior to joining USF, he was Senior Lecturer in water supply at UNESCO-IHE- Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands. He holds a Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden; an M.Eng.Sc. in Water Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia; and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.
