Michael Cai Wang
Assistant Professor
Michael Cai Wang is an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at USF and affiliated with the Department of Medical Engineering. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2018) and his B.A.Sc. from the University of Toronto (2012), both in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to his academic career, Michael worked at Shell Canada (Albian Sands) and served as the lead project engineer for the University of Illinois' 2013 Solar Decathlon team. Michael was an NSERC PGS-D recipient, Mavis Future Faculty Fellow, and UIUC MechSE Teaching Fellow. His contributions to nano-manufacturing of 2D materials and devices have been recognized by FMC Corp, Lam Research Corp, ASME, MRS, NNI, ORAU, and TMS. Michael is a member of ASME, MRS, and TMS. He joined USF in the fall of 2018 and received an NSF CAREER award in 2020.
