Supraja Anand

Associate Professor

Supraja Anand Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of South Florida, Tampa. She is the director of Speech Motor Systems (SMS) lab which develops novel quantitative methods to improve diagnostic and outcomes assessments for people with voice, speech-motor control, and related disorders. Specifically, current foci are on (1) dysphonic voice quality perception across the lifespan, and (2) interactions between cognition and speech production in people with Parkinsons disease. Her accomplishments include being the PI or co-I on federal grants of over $6M, awards and prestigious grants for disseminating research, engaging in didactic teaching and mentoring, serving on two editorial boards (Journal of Voice and Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research) and as reviewer for several prominent journals in the field. Supraja earned her undergraduate and master's degrees in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders from All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysore, India, and a Ph.D. in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences from University of Florida, Gainesville.
