Professor

Dr. Jing Wang is a Professor and Co-Director of Center for Wireless and Microwave Information Systems (WAMI Center) in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of South Florida. He got dual B.S. degrees in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua University in 1999. He also received two M.S. degrees in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, and an Electrical Engineering Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 2000, 2002, 2006, respectively. He was a recipient of 2018 Faculty Outstanding Research Achievement Award at the University of South Florida and 2017-2018 Outstanding Electrical Engineering Educator Award. His research interests include RF/microwave/mm-Wave circuits, phased antennas and systems, RF additive manufacturing for structural electronics and packaging, MMIC's, RF/Bio-MEMS, micro-machined transducers, wireless sensor telemetry, and functional nanomaterials. His research work has been funded by federal agencies (NSF, DTRA, US Army, US Air Force) and many companies totaling over $14M. He has published more than 180peer-reviewed papers and holds 11US patents. He received best paper awards for 2018 International Conference on Magnetism (ICM 2018), 2015 International Symposium on Microelectronics, 2013 UIA conference, 2010 AVS symposium, and 2003 IEEE RFIC Symposium. Since 2006, 14 doctoral students have graduated from USF under his supervision. Over the 14 years, Dr. Wang has served as the chairperson for IEEE MTT/AP/EDS Florida West Coast Section and he was elected as a member of IEEE MTT-s Technical Committee on RF MEMS and Microwave Acoustics. He has acted as general chair or TPC chair for IEEE Wireless and Microwave Technology Conferences (WAMICON) in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2020. WAMICON is an IEEE MTT-s sponsored international conference that has been coordinated annually by USF WAMI Center in past 21 years. He chaired WAMICON 2014 that was jointly held with International Microwave Symposium (IMS 2014) in Tampa, FL.
