Yasin Yilmaz

Associate Professor

Yasin Yilmaz is an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of South Florida, Tampa. Before joining USF in 2016, he was a postdoctoral fellow in Data Science at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He received a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, New York, NY, in 2014. His research focuses on real-time machine learning and streaming data analysis with applications in computer vision, cybersecurity, environmental systems, biomedical systems, intelligent transportation systems, energy systems, and communication systems. His research in these areas has been funded by several sponsors including federal agencies such as National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Transportation (DOT), and National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA). He received the Collaborative Research Award from Columbia University in 2015, Research Initiation Award from the Southeastern Center for Electrical Engineering Education in 2017, best paper and data challenge awards from IEEE Conference on Dependable and Secure Computing in 2023, IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) in 2021 and 2020, and IEEE Conference on Big Data in 2020, NIST Automated Streams Analysis for Public Safety Challenge in 2020, and ACM Conference on Recommender Systems (RecSys) in 2019. Dr. Yilmaz is a Senior Member of IEEE.
