Jong Chool Park

Assistant Professor

Dr. Jong Park is an Assistant Professor in the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy in the Muma College of Business at USF. He received his Ph.D. and master's degree in accounting from Carnegie Mellon University. His research interests include financial reporting choice and corporate governance, the effect of auditors on M&A outcomes, executive compensation, cost management, and stakeholder orientation. His work has been published in premier journals including the Journal of Accounting and Economics, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Management Accounting Research, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory. His papers have been presented at a number of international conferences. Before joining the University of South Florida, Dr. Park taught financial accounting, financial statement analysis, and managerial accounting for both undergraduate and graduate students at Carnegie Mellon University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Old Dominion University. Dr. Park is teaching primarily intermediate accounting and principles of financial accounting at the University of South Florida. Dr. Park received an Advisory Council Outstanding Teaching Award from Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy in 2019. Dr. Park is an active member of the American Accounting Association and a past president and an executive board member of the Korean American Accounting Professors Association.
