John Ferron

Professor

John Ferron is a scholar of research methodology, who focuses on methods for studying the effectiveness of interventions for individuals who have special needs and may struggle to respond to typical educational practices. He has contributed to the conduct of single-case experimental research through his work in randomization methods, masked analysis techniques, effect size metrics, randomization tests, single-level models, and multilevel models. He has also contributed to research on linear mixed models, structural equation models, and meta-analysis, as well as to research designed to develop and evaluate educational interventions. He is on the 2022 Stanford top 2% scientist career list for Education & Social Science Methods and is a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association (2026). As a professor in the Educational Measurement and Research Program in the Department of Educational and Psychological Studies in the College of Education at USF he is supported by wonderful colleagues. He is thankful for the opportunity to mentor exceptional graduate students and to teach a variety of educational statistics courses.
