Jessica Dominguez Rieg

Associate Professor

Dr. Jessica Dominguez Rieg is an Associate Professor of Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology and Director of Basic Science Integration at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. She received her BS in Veterinary Science in 2001 and PhD in Physiological Sciences in 2006 from the University of Arizona. Dr. Dominguez Rieg joined the faculty at USF in 2017 and brings a wealth of experience in medical physiology education and research expertise in epithelial transport and kidney-intestinal crosstalk. As a translational physiologist, her main interest lies in how the body functions from the subcellular level up to the level of integration of biological systems in the whole organism. She has a longstanding track record of mentoring students in physiology research, particularly those that are from underrepresented backgrounds. Dr. Dominguez Rieg is passionate about education and has had the honor of receiving multiple teaching awards during her career, including induction into the inaugural USF MCOM Academy of Distinguished Educators in 2021. As a distinguished leader who has demonstrated excellence in science, made significant contributions to physiological sciences, and has been dedicated to serving the scientific community, Dr. Dominguez Rieg was honored with becoming a 2023 Fellow of the American Physiological Society.
