Trung Le
Assistant Professor
Dr. Trung Le is an Assistant Professor with joint appointments in the Industrial and Management Systems Engineering and Medical Engineering Departments at the University of South Florida. He received his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University as a Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) Fellow. Prior to joining USF, he held research and faculty positions at Texas A&M University, North Dakota State University, and Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City. Dr. Les research lies at the intersection of engineering, medicine, and AI, with a focus on data-driven and sensor-based modeling, dynamic predictive analytics, and smart infrastructure resilience. His work is applied to healthcare and energy systems. He collaborates closely with cardiologists, sleep physicians, oncologists, biomedical engineers, and industrial partners to translate these methods into clinically, industrially, and societally impactful solutions. He is an active member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) AI in Sleep Medicine community. His work has been published in leading journals including IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, IISE Transactions, Medical Engineering & Physics, IEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine, IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, PLOS ONE, Sensors, and Artificial Intelligence in Medicine. His research has resulted in multiple U.S. and international patent applications and has been supported by NSF, NIH, EPSCoR, the British Council, and industry partners. He leads the Sensing and Predictive Analytics for Computational Health Systems (SPACHeS) Lab.
