Sarah Bloom
Associate Professor
Sarah Bloom is an Associate Professor in the Department of Child and Family Studies at the University of South Florida and an adjunct faculty at Kinneret Academic College in Israel. She received her Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Florida in 2008 under the mentorship of Dr. Brian Iwata and was an Assistant Professor in the Applied Behavior Analysis area of the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation at Utah State University until 2013. Dr. Bloom is the founder and former President of the Utah Association for Behavior Analysis. She has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis and has been a guest Associate Editor and reviewer for many other behavior analysis journals. She has published over 35 articles in the areas of assessment and treatment of problem behavior, translational investigations of behavioral relapse as well as other behavioral phenomena, and the delivery of behavior analytic services to culturally and linguistically diverse populations. She has mentored 10 doctoral students and those students have gone on to faculty positions in prestigious behavior analysis programs around the country. One of Dr. Blooms recent graduates received the APA Division 25 Applied Dissertation Award and Dr. Bloom was recognized by the Association for Behavior Analysis International as an Outstanding Mentor (2023). Dr. Bloom is the Principal Investigator for an applied research project in the context of clinical service provision with Neurointernational Healthcare, which funds two graduate students annually. She was also a Co-Investigator for an Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation doctoral training grant. She is best known for her work in the modification of functional analysis methodology into a trial-based format in order to facilitate its use in educational and other settings.
