Greg Smersh

Assistant Professor of Instruction

Dr. Greg Smersh holds the Exide Professorship of Finance and Real Estate at the Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance at USFs Muma College of Business. He also advises the Real Estate Society at USF. His teaching focuses on Principles of Finance and Real Estate Decision Making. His research primarily explores price variations in residential and commercial real estate. His influential paper on pricing residential amenities, published in the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, has been cited over 780 times. In 2006, he was a visiting professor at Florida State University, where he collaborated with Stacy Sirmans. Together, they have co-authored nearly a dozen articles. Recently, they received the 2024 Manuscript Prize for Real Estate Valuation from the American Real Estate Society for their work titled "Perceptions on Climate Change and the Pricing of Disaster Risk in Commercial Real Estate." He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Florida, an MBA from Western Washington University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington.
