Uma Nair
Associate Professor
Uma Nair, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of South Florida. She is a health disparities researcher with a primary focus on reducing cancer-related morbidity and mortality in medically understudied and marginalized populations. A behavioral scientist by training, Dr. Nairs research interest include broadly falls under two domains: (a) developing scalable interventions to address nicotine and tobacco dependence in underserved populations and (b) cancer screening interventions in underserved populations (i.e., LGBTQ+ adults). Dr. Nair has received funding from federal (NCI, NIDA) and foundation (AHA, Qatar National Research Foundation) grants. Dr. Nair currently co-chairs the Belongingness, Engagement, and Community Committee at the College of Nursing.
