Nik Lampe
Assistant Professor
Dr. Nik Lampe is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mental Health Law & Policy. They also hold appointments within the Florida Mental Health Institute, School of Aging Studies, Department of Womens, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and Department of Sociology. Dr. Lampe earned their Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in aging and public health research at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Lampe's research program focuses on the behavioral and cognitive health disparities of LGBTQ+ aging populations and the health of diverse older adults living with dementia and their family care partners. They are also a research faculty associate of the African American Alzheimers Caregiver Training and Support Project 2 (ACTS2), a Florida-based not-for-profit program offering free skills-building and support services to Black family caregivers of older adults living with dementia. In 2023, Dr. Lampe was awarded a three-year early-career research grant from the Alzheimers Association (AARFD-23-1145127) to further examine Alzheimers disease and related dementias (ADRD) risk and protective factors among LGBTQ+ older adults in the Southern United States. Their research has been published in reputable interdisciplinary journals, including The Journals of Gerontology, Series B: Social Sciences, The Gerontologist, Social Science & Medicine, International Journal of Transgender Health, and Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine.
