M. Adelaida Restrepo

Dr. M. Adelaida Restrepo is Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences at the University of South Florida. She joined the college from Arizona State University, where she was a professor in the Speech and Hearing Sciences Program and associate dean for research in the College of Health Solutions. She has also held roles at the University of Georgia and the Universidad de Antioquia, Medelln, Colombia. She directs the Bilingual Language and Literacy Laboratory, whose primary mission is to identify the best assessments and interventions for bilingual children at risk of academic difficulties. She is an editor of the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research. As a bilingual speech-language pathologist she investigates the characteristic of bilingual children with typical and atypical language and how to improve oral language and literacy assessment and intervention in Spanish speakers or other underrepresented languages in the US.Dr. Restrepo is a Fulbright Fellow and ASHA Fellow.
