Tara Randis

Associate Professor

Dr. Tara M. Randis is the Pamela and Leslie Muma Endowed Chair and Chief of the Division of Neonatology at the University of South Florida (USF), where she also serves as Vice Chair for Pediatric Research. She holds the academic rank of Associate Professor of Pediatrics, with additional appointments in the Departments of Molecular Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology at USF Morsani College of Medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Scranton and received her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, followed by fellowship training in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Columbia University. During her fellowship, she also obtained a Master of Science in Biostatistics from Columbia's Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Randis is a physician-scientist who leads a robust, translational research program investigating hostpathogen interactions at the maternal-fetal interface, with a primary focus on Group B Streptococcus (GBS). Her NIH- and industry-supported laboratory integrates animal and human organotypic models to explore key mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of both early- and late-onset neonatal sepsis. She is an active member of the Society for Pediatric Research, the American Pediatric Society, and the Perinatal Research Society. She currently serves on the Program Planning Committee for the Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting and is a member of the Full Executive Committee for the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. She serves on the board of directors of Group B Strep International. With a passion for mentoring and academic leadership, Dr. Randis is committed to advancing neonatal care through a combination of clinical excellence, research innovation, and educational outreach.
