Christina Cardy

Associate Professor

Dr. Christina Cardy is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) who serves in academic, administrative, and clinical roles with the University of South Florida (USF). She earned her BSN from Emory University in 2013, her MSN from Vanderbilt University in 2016, and her DNP in Executive Leadership from Vanderbilt University in 2017. She joined USF Health in 2016 as a nurse practitioner in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences, caring for patients on the inpatient cardiology service at Tampa General Hospital. She went on to serve as Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in Cardiology, overseeing clinical, administrative, and fiscal operations, and later chaired USF Healths Advanced Practice Council. Since 2017, she has taught in the MSN and DNP programs at the USF College of Nursing and in the high-fidelity simulation lab. She has taught MSN core and AGACNP specialty courses, served as a faculty advisor and DNP project mentor, and, since 2021, has directed the AGACNP concentration. She continues to practice in inpatient cardiology. Her professional passions include mentorship, empowerment, and advocacy for nurses and advanced practice providers. She is published in multiple peer-reviewed medical and nursing journals. She also writes Plan of Care, a newsletter about career, leadership, and wellness for modern caregivers. In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Cardy received the ANCC Certified Nurse of the Year Award for the AGACNP specialty in 2020 and was elected a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology in 2025. Outside of work, she enjoys running, cooking, photography, watersports, traveling, and cats.
