Sami Noujaim

Professor

Dr. Sami Noujaim is a Professor of Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of South Florida's Morsani College of Medicine. His research spans the molecular, cellular, and systems mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias, with particular interest in ion channel biology, regulation of cardiac excitability, and the arrhythmogenic effects of inhalation exposures. His laboratory has made important contributions to understanding how potassium channels modulate cardiac electrical activity, how drug-ion channel interactions influence arrhythmia mechanisms, and how bioengineered protein blockers of potassium channels can serve as novel antiarrhythmic agents. Additionally, his group is defining the electrophysiological impact of nicotine and flavored vaping products on the heart.
