Rasim Guldiken

Professor

Dr. Guldiken is a Professor of the Mechanical Engineering Department and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of the College of Engineering at the University of South Florida (USF). He received his Ph.D. from the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering of Georgia Institute of Technology in 2008. He started his independent academic career journey at USF in 2008 and established the Acoustic and Microfluidics Laboratory. Since then, he has sought to discover new knowledge within his research interests of Acoustics, Microfluidics, and Engineering Education, with the overarching goal of solving global challenges. He has graduated 16 Ph.D. and 13 M.S. from his research group as the major/co-major professor and worked with 21 undergraduate students. The alumni landed their dream jobs all over the country, such as Project Manager at Neuralink, Austin, TX, to Mechanical Engineer at Blue Origin to tenured Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, among others. He has 8 U.S. Patents issued (2 additional patents pending) as an inventor, published 50+ invited book chapters and journal papers in leading journals in his field. He has served as the Chair of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) Division and is currently the Chair of the ASME Micro Nano Fluid Dynamics Technical Committee of the Fluid Engineering Division. Dr. Guldiken has been recognized with multiple awards and honors, including the 2022 ASME Fellow, 2022 USF Faculty Outstanding Research Achievement Award, 2022 USF Academic Excellence Award, 2019 and 2012 USF University-Wide Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Awards, 2018 USF Outstanding Graduate Faculty Mentor Honorable Mention and 2014 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Ralph Teetor Educational Award.
