Hongdao Meng
Associate Professor
Dr. Meng earned his MD and MPH degrees from West China University of Medical Sciences and his Ph.D. in health services research from the University of Rochester. He joined USF in 2010 and has served as chair of the USF System Research Council from 2017 to 2018, and chair of the Faculty Council in the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences from 2020 to 2021. A Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America and the Florida Policy Exchange Center on Aging, he directs the Positive Aging Lab in the School of Aging Studies. Dr. Meng's earlier work focused on examining access, quality, and cost issues in caring for older adults with chronic conditions across the long-term care continuum. His current research focuses on integrating mind and body interventions to promote healthy aging and reduce the impact of age-related physical and cognitive decline among middle-aged and older adults. His research has included the study of the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of community-based disease management interventions and the use of vouchers to deliver consumer-directed personal assistance services to older adults with multiple chronic conditions. He has worked with several research teams that have developed innovative home and community-based interventions targeting symptom management and psychological wellbeing for individuals with fatigue syndrome, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and dementia. Dr. Meng's research has been funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research, the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Science Foundation, Health Resources, and Services Administration, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, Florida Department of Elder Affairs, and Florida Department of Health. Dr. Meng has been serving as the Editor of the journal Home Health Care Services Quarterly since 2017.
