Sara Flory
Associate Professor
Sara Barnard Flory is an Associate Professor at the University of South Florida. She is the program coordinator for the undergraduate Physical Education Teacher Education program, and the co-coordinator of the Teacher Education doctoral program in the College of Education. Dr. Flory earned her Ph.D. in Kinesiology from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, with an emphasis on physical education pedagogy. Her research interests center on inclusivity, equity, and diversity in physical education and physical activity. More specifically, her research focuses on preparing teachers for diverse school settings, and improving physical education and physical activity settings that are inclusive and relevant for all students and teachers. Dr. Flory's early research focused on the experiences of teachers and students in urban schools. More recently, she has expanded her approach to investigate other issues of social justice, including language diversity, immigrant and refugee populations, and LGBTQ+ populations. Dr. Flory focuses on teacher preparation practices as well as policies that support inclusive education. She was selected as a Fulbright Scholar to Malta, where she will study inclusive education policyduring the 2021-2022 academic year.
