Kevin Sneed, Ph.D.

Professor

Dr. Kevin Sneed is professor and founding Dean of the University of South Florida Taneja College of Pharmacy, and Senior Associate Vice-President for USF Health. His research and clinical interests include advanced pharmacological treatment of patients with cardio-metabolic disorders, examining health care disparities, and emerging health technologies. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts, poster presentations; participated in multiple grant projects; and served as site principal investigator and co-investigator on medication clinical trials. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice, Fellow of the National Pharmaceutical Association; and recipient of the Distinguished Citizen Award from Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, and the Award of Excellence from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He is very active in national and state organizations, including NPHA, NAP, AHA, ASHP, AACP, FPA, FSHP, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (The Boul). He currently serves as executive director for WE-CARE (Workgroup Enhancing Community Advocacy and Research Engagement), a community-based program working to increase participation of underserved populations in clinical research. He is the Health-Equity chair and past president, American Heart Associations (AHA) Tampa Metro Board of Directors, and member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Black Cardiologists and the Area Health Education CenterUSF (Gulfcoast North). For the AHA he has served as past Chair, Multicultural Initiatives Committee for the Greater Southeast Affiliate; and member of the Scientific Meeting Planning Committee and Clinical Scientific Session Programs. His work in innovative community healthcare initiatives includes directing the IN-SHAPE program (Inter-professional Student Health Assessment Project and Evaluation), which addressed cardiovascular disparities in African-American and Hispanic communities in Tampa, FL. He created USF Health Pharmacy Plus, which he promotes as "The Pharmacy of the Future!" Selected as a 2023 faculty member of the medical futurist consortium NextMed Health, he dedicates himself to fostering innovation in healthcare initiatives. He received his B.S. (Biology/Microbiology) from the University of Central Florida; his Doctor of Pharmacy from Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy; and completed Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Practice Specialty Residency at Bay Pines Veterans Administration Medical Center.
