Assistant Professor
Sloan Research Fellowship

Dr. Bradford J. Gemmell is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology in the USF College of Arts and Sciences. He joined USF in 2015. Previously he was post-doctoral scholar and adjunct research faculty at the Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. in Marine Science from the University of Texas, Austin and his B.S. in Biology from the University of Victoria, British Columbia. He has received several National Science Foundation grants, and a NOAA National Estuarine Research Reserve Award. He describes his research as the intersection of biology and physics, exploring the interactions between tiny animal organisms and their watery environment, and how large-scale ecosystem processes and evolutionary relationships explain the survival of the smallest animals at the base of the ocean’s food chain.
