Dr. Sarina Ergas is Professor and Graduate Program Coordinator in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering in the USF College of Engineering. Among her many awards and honors, she was named a 2017 Fellow of the Association of Environmental Engineering & Science Professors (AEESP). She is also a Fellow of the Water Environment Federation and ASCE ExCEEd (Excellence in Engineering Education). Her research interests include: environmental biotechnology, including wastewater treatment; biological nutrient removal from storm water and wastewater from municipal, industrial and agricultural sources; anaerobic digestion of livestock waste, biosolids and municipal solid waste; recirculating aquaculture and aquaponic systems; algal wastewater treatment, and biofuel production systems. She earned her Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of California, Davis, and her B.S. from Humboldt State University. She is also a Professional Engineer, and Board Certified Environmental Engineer.
